The Fontana Maggiore or Fontana di Piazza Maggiore, in IV Novembre square in Perugia (Umbria), is one of the most important monuments of the historic center, exactly on the Piazza IV Novembre, between the palazzo dei Priori and San Lorenzo Cathedral.
Designed by Fra Bevignate, the fountain was built in stone of Assisi, between 1275 and 1278 by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano for sculptures and Boninsegna Veneziano for hydraulics; it commemorates the arrival of water in the center of Perugia from Monte Pacciano by a new aqueduct.
