Pistoia Cathedral of San Zeno

Cattedrale di San Zeno in Italian.

The Cathedral of Pistoia has a Romanesque façade on the model of other churches in the city built at the same time. On both ends of the upper part of the facade are placed two marble statues of the patron saints : San Zeno and San Jacopo, once placed in the loggia.

The building, with its bell tower and baptistery, has three naves with raised presbytery and the crypt, and was probably built in the tenth century. With time the Cathedral of San Zeno of Pistoia has undergone several changes and was reduced to its primitive forms with a restoration that took place between 1952 and 1966, completed in 1999.
