Verres Castle is one of the most famous medieval castles in the Aosta Valley. Built as a military fortress by Ibleto of Challant in the fourteenth century, was one of the first castle in one body, composed of a single building.
It stands on a rocky promontory overlooking the village of Verrès and the road of the Val d’Ayas, on the other side of the Dora and the Chateau d’ Issogne.
From the outside, the Castle of Verres resembles an austere cube of thirty meters on each side, with almost no decorative elements.
