La Lanterna is the name given to the harbor lighthouse (faro in Italian) in the city of Genoa, capital of the region of Liguria . It is located on the promontory called San Begnino , not far from Sampierdarena and comes in the form of a square tower of 76 meters . She wears a cylindrical lantern equipped with a rotating lens that emits two bursts of 872,000 candelas every 20 seconds . Its focal height is 117 meters.

It is the tallest lighthouse in Italy and the second tallest lighthouse in the world after that of the Virgin Island
