Mole Antonelliana

The Mole Antonelliana (or Mole di Antonelli) is a form of masonry structure dome 167.5 meters high, erected in Turin (Italy), whose construction began in 1863. It is one of the tallest buildings masonry in Europe, became the monument that symbolizes the city, like the Eiffel Tower for Paris or the statue of Liberty in New York. In via Montebello, in the heart of the city, it is named after the architect who designed it, Alessandro Antonelli .

Originally intended to become the place of worship of the Jewish community of Turin, it has now become – after having housed the Museum of the Risorgimento – now hosts the National Cinema Museum.
