The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic is located in the municipality of Castelpetroso, Isernia, in the territory of the Archdiocese of Campobasso-Boiano .
The Virgin Mary appeared the 22 March 1888 to Bibiana and Serafina.
In the nineteenth century, it was decided to build a sanctuary on the appearances of the site. The project was entrusted to Joseph Gualandi and at his death (1944) was succeeded by his son Francis.

The day September 28, 1890 was laid the first stone.
