The Church St. Mary of the Holy Spirit is one of the main churches of the city of Florence. It is located in the Oltrarno district , the southern part of the old town, with its simple façade overlooking the main square. It was built on the remains of the thirteenth century Augustinian monastery destroyed by fire in 1371 .
The Chiesa di Santa Maria del Santo Spirito has the dignity of minor basilica.
