The church of Santa Maria del Carmine in Florence dominates the square of Santa Maria del Carmine in the Oltrarno district. It is famous for hosting the frescoes in the Brancacci chapel, the fundamental work of Renaissance art , decorated by Masaccio and Masolino (and later completed by Filippino Lippi) .

The church dedicated to Our Lady of Carmel was built in 1268.
