Palazzo Pretorio is the former city hall of Prato in the village square in front of the current town hall. It houses the Museum of Palazzo Pretorio.
The building, in its current form, was born in the late thirteenth and fourteenth century from three separate buildings. The different building materials used in the various buildings still allow us to distinguish the outlines of primitive shape. The gate on the ground floor leads to a series of rooms with original frescoes (Bettino of Corsino, 1307; Pietro and Antonio di Miniato, 1425), while the large outside staircase leads to the main floor.
