The fountain with 99 spouts (Fontana delle 99 Cannelle in Italian), also known under the name of Rivera , is one of the oldest monuments of the city of L’Aquila, Abruzzo.
Leaning against the walls of the city in the area of Rivera and near the river Aterno, the fountain consists of ninety-three stone masks, all different, and six single. According to tradition, the spouts represent the ninety-nine castles that contributed to the founding of L’Aquila.
