The Medici Chapels are private chapels of the Medici family located in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence, accessible by its apsidal rear Piazza Madonna degli Aldobrandini.
The Cappelle Medicee are three in number :
– New Sacristy (Sacrist ) dating from 1521
– Chapel of the Princes (Cappella dei Principi), first floor (commissioned in 1568, begun in 1605, finished in 1929)
– The Chapel of the Treasury, behind the choir with its shrines and gold objects.
With the crypt, they make up a large museum complex devoted to the Medici and Florence.
