The Lazaret of Ancona (Lazzaretto or Mole Vanvitelliana in Italian), is a building designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli.
The building stands on a pentagonal artificial island located in the port; is connected to the mainland by three bridges and occupies an area of 20,000 m².
The site could accommodate up to 2000 people. Work began July 27, 1733 and completed ten years later.
